Early Talk Of Sale Is Centering on an NFL Team Or Development of Land Around Dodger Stadium, But Owners Should Focus First on the Team

Team Guggenheim has not even taken control of the team yet, and all the stories and speculation in L.A., is about uses for the land around Dodger Stadium being used for something other than the Dodgers.

First was talk of using the property to attract and NFL team. Now the hot topic is retail and condos. Perhaps even at the expense of Dodger Stadium itself, one idea has it torn down with a new stadium to be built downtown.

Tearing down Dodger Stadium, one of the best ballparks in the Majors, it something that should not even be discussed. But here is is being tossed around like fungo balls.

Did the team buy the Dodgers or the prospect of a real estate bonanza?

Here’s a piece of advice, and Magic Johnson should take the lead on this one: Concentrate first on the team you bought and worry about the other things later. Build a consistent winner and show interest in the ballclub and fan experience. Make “going to a Dodger game” something people in Los Angeles enjoy doing again.

Dodger fans have been burned badly by the last two owners .Fox and Frank McCourt. Don’t act as if the Dodgers are a mere afterthought; treat them like the treasured piece of Los Angeles they have become throughout the years.
